English - Shakespeare (Kar2ouch) & Creative Writing

Using an amazing new program, children can use role play and drama to create a scene from a play. They choose the scenery, the characters and can select from pre recorded dialogue or record their own. A real 'do and I understand' experience for gaining a greater knowledge of Shakespeare's characters and language. A 'must' for all year 6 teachers wanting a fun approach to Bard!

KS3 MACBETH - SATS PREPARATION

3 X 1 hour lessons
1. Banquo's Soliloquy modelled by teacher using a Kar2ouche storyboard. Students then complete storyboard for Act 3 scene 1 by inserting characters, background and translating Shakespearean language into modern English.
2. Directing a scene. Act 3 Sc 4 publisher document (Teachit.co.uk resource) students complete stage directions for the opening of the banquet scene.
3. The starter activity requires students to cut and paste events into the order in which they occur in Act 3 sc4 (ten minutes). The main lesson requires students to complete an Inspiration mind map, analysing Macbeth's changing state of mind during Act 3 scenes 1 and 4 by close interpretation of language in key quotations

Music - Using Ejay

We explore EJay a commercial music package which allows students to create sound recordings of voice and develop an understanding of how sounds create mood in the context of Song Writing and Film Music.

Art

Using Paint or Photoshop, the children learn about a particular artist, talk about the themes in their work and use ICT software. This enables them to create individual pieces based on significant motifs, colours, patterns, textures and shapes. Students create a collages of their work by the end of the session to take back to school.

Animation and Art

Students are introduced the stop frame animation. Once they have mastered the iStop Motion software, they are given progressive exercises to experiment with movement and camera angles.

Students are then introduced to storyboarding and the essential part it has in producing a short film.

Students will start with animating simple objects and then eventually produce a short film on a given theme. They will be required to plan a storyboard, script and make any scenery and props.

Digital Photography

Using iPhoto, students use digital cameras to collect images for their project. They learn basic skills of image manipulation and create a slide show of their work.

Digital Video Production

The children use digital video cameras to capture moving images and interviews on film. They then learn how to edit their footage and create a final piece of video. This session is available only by prior arrangement.

Animation

Using a specified theme such as 'health', the children are encouraged to source appropriate images and objects. These are then stop-motion animated with iStop Motion into a video sequence. The video sequence is impoted to imovie where the children can add titles, credits and voice-overs to create a polished and complete short film.

KS3 Science Volcano Work

2 lessons to research volcanoes. Work lead by an Inspiration Mind Map that helps pupils to organise their research. Aim is to use the research to produce an A3 colour poster/presentation on this subject. The students should use the note making facility of inspiration to record their findings.
