Every Bristol student has his/her own user name on the SAM Website. This is accessible from any computer, either at school, in libraries, CLCs or at home. Every Bristol secondary school is subscribed to SAM.

No longer the must have for the working executive only, PDAs (Personal Digital Assistant) promise to be very useful in education, both in and out of the classroom.
Handheld learning projects using PDAs are being piloted by CLC3 with partner Secondary schools in science and geography.

| ICT in Science |
|
Year 10 double science pupils from Whitefield went to the Bristol Harbourside and used data-logging equipment to measure temperature and environmental data, such as the Ph levels in water. We also took laptop computers and digital microscopes, so that they could see the micro beasts in the water. Students were able to record little video clips of them moving. Amazingly they found that the docks are actually quite clean nowadays!

| DiDA |
|
DiDA is a suite qualification consisting of a number of different units: Using ICT (compulsory), Multimedia, Graphics and ICT in Enterprise. Each unit is worth one GCSE. The qualification is dependant on how many units are completed. At the moment one can get an Award (AiDA), a Certificate (CiDA) or a Diploma (DiDA). Multimedia skills that teachers will need to deliver Unit D202. Delegates will be guided through each stage of the coursework preparation culminating in the final e-portfolio which will be based on a sample Summative Project Brief.
